Meta to Increase Spending to $65 Billion This Year in A.I. Push

In 2024, Mark Zuckerberg told investors that artificial intelligence would be vital for the future of Meta. Now, in 2025, he plans to invest $60 to $65 billion in capital expenditures, a significant increase from the previous year.

The majority of this investment will go towards building and expanding data centers to power Meta’s A.I. products and algorithms across its apps, such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Mr. Zuckerberg stated, “This massive effort will drive innovation, enhance our core products, and solidify American technology leadership.”

Meta plans to own over 1.3 million GPUs by the end of the year to support their A.I. systems. Despite layoffs, Mr. Zuckerberg intends to significantly expand his A.I. teams.

Silicon Valley giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon are competing in an infrastructure arms race for A.I. development. Meta’s share price rose following the announcement of their investment in data centers.
