The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently removed thousands of pages from its website that included terms like “transgender,” “L.G.B.T.,” and “pregnant person” to comply with an executive order against promoting “gender ideology.”
However, in response to media coverage, backlash, and concerns for public health, some pages have been reinstated. This includes vaccine information, contraception guidelines, information on how race and racism impact health outcomes, and a database containing H.I.V. data used by doctors.
Some resources have been restored, although not without issues. For example, while charts and tables in the H.I.V. database can be accessed through a Google search, the CDC’s portal remains inaccessible.
