Fox News Adds Lara Trump as a Host

President Trump convinced several Fox News hosts to leave the network and take on significant roles in his administration.

Now, a Trump family member is joining the network.

Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of Mr. Trump and former co-chair of the Republican Party, will start hosting a new weekend show on Fox News on Feb. 22, as announced by the network on Wednesday.

The president and his children often appear on Fox News, but having a close relative of a sitting president host a prominent show on a major TV news channel is unprecedented.

“My View With Lara Trump,” scheduled to air on Saturdays at 9 p.m. Eastern, will feature analysis and interviews with influential figures. The show is described by the network as focusing on “the return of common sense to all corners of American life,” echoing a term frequently used by the Trump administration.

Ms. Trump, 42, married to Eric Trump, has experience in television. She previously worked as a producer on “Inside Edition” and served as an on-air contributor on Fox News from March 2021 to December 2022.

Suzanne Scott, the CEO of Fox News Media, praised Lara Trump’s professionalism and communication skills, expressing confidence in her potential as a host.

Last year, at the suggestion of her father-in-law, Lara Trump became co-chair of the Republican National Committee, overseeing various party operations. She resigned from the position last month.

After considering a Senate run in Florida, Lara Trump engaged in discussions with Suzanne Scott about a role at the network.

While presidential relatives have worked at TV networks before, it is uncommon for them to do so while their relative holds office.

Other presidential family members, such as Jenna Bush Hager and Chelsea Clinton, have held TV roles after their relative’s presidency.

Lara Trump is rejoining Fox News as the network achieves record ratings. Since the election, Fox News has dominated cable news ratings.

The Trump-Fox relationship has improved, with Rupert Murdoch, the network’s owner, showing support for Mr. Trump. Executives like Pete Hegseth and Sean Duffy transitioned from Fox News to Trump’s administration.

Lara Trump, married to Eric Trump, maintained a close relationship with her father-in-law, discussing politics and music. She previously vowed strong support for Mr. Trump’s re-election bid.

Brian Kilmeade’s show at 9 p.m. on Saturdays on Fox News will move to Sundays at 10 p.m.
