Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has instructed his ministers to take more responsibility for decisions rather than “outsourcing” them to regulators.
Sir Keir emphasized in a cabinet meeting on Tuesday his desire for ministers to play a more active role in implementing the government’s priorities.
He emphasized that the Labour government needs to accelerate efforts to reform the state by reviewing regulations that do not align with its plans.
The prime minister addressed his top team before a speech on Thursday, in which he is expected to unveil a restructuring of government operations.
