Jay-Z calls for rape accuser’s identity to be revealed or case dismissed | Ents & Arts News

Jay-Z has requested that the accuser who claimed he raped her at the age of 13 be identified or that the case be dismissed.

The accuser, only known as “Jane Doe,” alleges that the incident occurred after the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000, supposedly involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Jay-Z – also known as Shawn Carter – and Combs have both denied the accusations.

In a court document obtained by Sky’s US news partner NBC News, Jay-Z’s lawyer Alex Spiro argued that the accuser’s use of the pseudonym “Jane Doe” was not a genuine attempt to seek truth but rather a tactic for a quick settlement.

Spiro stated that Jay-Z is requesting either the dismissal of the allegations or the revelation of the accuser’s identity.

Spiro continued: “It is unjust, unfair, and goes against the legal regulations of federal procedures for the plaintiff and her lawyer to tarnish the defendant’s reputation while keeping the plaintiff’s identity hidden.”

Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee, representing 120 accusers against Combs, responded to Spiro’s motion in an interview with NBC News, stating: “Claims of extortion or blackmail in response to the demand letter I sent are baseless.

“These demands are commonly made across the US, and trying to shift focus from the accused perpetrator will not work or scare us.”

The federal lawsuit against Jay-Z and Combs was re-filed in the Southern District of New York on Sunday after originally only naming Combs.

According to NBC News, the lawsuit alleges the girl was taken to the VMAs at Radio City Music Hall by a friend without a ticket and later approached limousine drivers to gain entry to the show or after party.

One driver claimed to work for Combs and said she met the criteria he was looking for. The driver then picked her up, took her to a white house, and had her sign what she thought was a non-disclosure agreement.

She was given a drink that made her dizzy and after feeling woozy, Jay-Z and Combs entered the room, with Combs saying, “You are ready to party!”

She alleges that Jay-Z then assaulted her while Combs and another woman watched. She claims Combs also assaulted her while Jay-Z and the woman observed.

After the incident, she fled to a nearby gas station to call her father.

She is seeking damages of an unspecified amount.

What you need to know about Jay-Z allegations

Jay-Z addressed the allegations in a statement to NBC News.

He stated: “These allegations are so grave that I urge you to file a criminal report, not a civil one! Anyone who commits such a crime against a minor should be imprisoned, don’t you think?

“If these allegations were true, the victims would deserve actual justice.”

He continued: “My sadness is for my family. My wife and I will have to explain the situation to our children, one of whom is at an age where her friends may come across the news and inquire about these accusations, and describe the cruelty and greed of individuals. I grieve the loss of innocence once again.

“Only those who believe in conspiracy theories and fake claims would give any credence to the nonsensical accusations against me, which, if not for the serious nature of harm to children, would be laughable,” he added.

Jay-Z has been married to Beyonce since 2008, and they have three children together.

Meanwhile, Combs faces charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and other crimes brought by federal prosecutors in New York. He is currently in custody in Brooklyn and is set to stand trial on 5 May.

Combs’ lawyers have refuted the allegations of rape, sexual assault, and misconduct, stating in a previous release: “Mr Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the legal process.

“In court, the truth will prevail: Mr Combs has never engaged in sexual misconduct with anyone – adult or minor, male or female.”
