Kamala Harris Shares a Trump-less Photo of Presidents at Jimmy Carter’s Funeral

The funeral of former President Jimmy Carter on Thursday was attended by five current and former presidents. However, in photos shared on social media by Vice President Kamala Harris and the Carter Center, President-elect Donald J. Trump was left out of the frame.

Vice President Harris, who had a contentious campaign against Mr. Trump, and Mr. Carter had both faced criticism from the president-elect. The photo shared by Vice President Harris prominently featured the three Democrats.

The photo showed President Biden and former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama standing with their hands over their hearts. Former President George W. Bush was partially obscured in the photo.

Mr. Trump was standing next to Mr. Obama, but both were blocked by a pillar in the photo. Vice President Harris praised President Carter in her post, highlighting his service to the country.

The Carter Center shared a different photo showing the front row attendees, including the president and vice president and their spouses. The second row included Mr. Clinton, Laura Bush, and Mr. Obama.

It is unclear if Mr. Trump’s exclusion from the photos was intentional. Other photos from the funeral showed all five presidents together.

Representatives for Vice President Harris and the Carter Center did not comment on the matter. Requests for comments from the Trump White House transition team and the Carter Center went unanswered.

The state funeral for Mr. Carter, the nation’s oldest living former president at the time of his death at age 100, showcased rare bipartisanship in a time of deep political divides.

Other Republicans in attendance included Mr. Bush and Mike Pence. Mr. Pence was the target of rioters during the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021, and awkwardly came together with Mr. Trump for a handshake at the funeral.

Some dignitaries, including Karen Pence and Mr. Bush, appeared to avoid shaking hands with Mr. Trump. Michelle Obama did not attend the service.
